My Life Lessons

So a while back I posted life lessons from a 90 year old woman. These are mine as of this moment in my 20 year old life.

1. Say “I love you.” Tell the ones you love how much they mean to you whenever you have the opportunity.

2. Relationships are one of God’s greatest gifts to mankind.

3. Little kids can help you see beauty in places you forgot it existed. Listen to what they have to say and look at the world as they see it & you will realize just how incredible this life is.

4. Be kind.

5. I’ve found that the people who’s company I enjoy the most are people who spend their time discussing things other than people and doing things they’re passionate about.

6. Chocolate makes things better. It just does.

7. During the darkest moments of your life, when you feel as though no one could possibly understand how you’re feeling, you are not alone. God is present and loving you more than you could imagine.

8. Behind every rude comment or harsh exterior, there’s a story.

9. You have no idea what the people in your life have gone through.

10. You are a very lucky person if you have a few friends from each chapter in your life.

11. A shower can make you feel like a whole new person. Words of advice from my mama.

12. Find what makes you happy, what gives your life meaning and fills you with a sense of purpose, and focus on these things.

13. Surround yourself with people who lift you up.

14. Get involved - you can make a difference in someone’s life.

15. Music can speak in ways words sometimes cannot.

If you’re feeling frightened about what comes next… Don’t. Embrace the uncertainty. Allow it to lead you places. Be brave as it challenges you to exercise both your heart and your mind as you create your own path towards happiness. Don’t waste time with regret. Spin wildly into your next action. Enjoy the present - each moment as it comes - because you’ll never get another one quite like it. And if you should ever look up and find yourself lost, simply take a breath and start over. Retrace your steps and go back to the purest place in your heart, where your hope lives. You’ll find your way again… Julia Brown, Everwood (via fly4freedom)

I hate the way you talk to me, and the way you cut your hair. I hate the way you drive my car. I hate it when you stare. I hate your big dumb combat boots, and the way you read my mind. I hate you so much it makes me sick; it even makes me rhyme. I hate it, I hate the way you’re always right. I hate it when you lie. I hate it when you make me laugh, even worse when you make me cry. I hate it when you’re not around, and the fact that you didn’t call. But mostly I hate the way I don’t hate you. Not even close, not even a little bit, not even at all.

i don’t know who wrote this. but i like it.

“Right now, there are people all over the world who are just like you. They’re lonely. They’re missing somebody. They’re in love with someone they probably shouldn’t be in love with. They have secrets you wouldn’t believe. They wish and they dream and they hope, and they look out the window whenever they’re in the car or on a bus or a train and they watch the people on the streets and wonder what they’ve been through. They wonder if there are people out there like them. They’re like you, and you could tell them everything and they would understand. And right now, they’re sitting here reading these words, and I’m writing this for you so you don’t feel alone anymore.”
